It was a good day for Great Britain in the pool on Wednesday with two diving medals, including a gold for 15-year-old Lois Toulson in the women’s platform. The teenager showed great courage to produce the ‘Dive of the Day’ with her last jump.

Ukraine won Artistic Gymnastics gold in the men’s individual all-around and also in Archery, taking the men’s team event after a dramatic shoot-off against Spain.

In the women’s all-around, Russia`s Aliya Mustafina claimed her second gold medal of the Games, overcoming a couple of uncharacteristic wobbles to produce a trademark performance of style and grace.

Pre-race favourite Vasil Kiryienka lived up to his billing by winning gold in the men’s individual Road Cycling time trial, the Belurusian leaving his rivals trailing in his slip stream as the only rider to finish in under an hour.

Beach Volleyball always provides some thrills and spills and it was no different on Thursday. The best rally of the day came in a match between Azerbaijan and Finland, won 2-0 by the host pair, with the Finns desperately unlucky to lose the point despite their valiant attempts to return to ball.
